Grant's Bend Tunnels - 05/13/2011

Our Preliminary Research:
  • http://www.cincinnati-transit.net/grantsbend.htm - This website has the best history on the tunnels. Most people have referred to these tunnels as the 'twin tunnels'. There are several urban legends about the tunnels. The only legends that have found to be proven are those of the train derailing and the engineering being struck by an oncoming train. These tracks are currently undergoing some minor construction. Also, the tracks are operated by CSX and are still being used for cargo transit. The shorter of the two tunnels measures just under a 1/2 mile. There are listed measurements of the tunnel built in 1912. Because the 2nd tunnel has a slight curve inside, you cannot see the exit of the tunnel. One could assume that both tunnels are matching in distance which may be a reason why some have called them the 'twin tunnels'.
Our Preliminary Findings:
  • We arrived at the tunnels around 8 PM on May 13, 2011. We began our investigation with the 1912 tunnel. 2 members of the group entered the tunnel with digital voice recorder and DVD camcorder using night-shot technology. In the 1912 tunnel one of the members experienced a white shadow figure. In the 1853 tunnel, two of the group members witnessed a black figure move across the end of the tracks at the exit. We exited the south entrance to the tunnels and circled around for a few minutes in an attempt to find the north entrance. We wound up making a circle around the area and as we passed over the tracks, 2 members noticed that there was a black pentagram in the road that they did not recall seeing when they arrived at the tunnels. It is possible that the pentagram was already marked into the ground.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • The video footage from the tunnels did not reveal any substantial evidence. The audio was recorded on 3 different devices. A cellular voice notes recorder, digital voice recorder, and cassette voice recorder. 2 of the members reviewed the evidence over a video conference call. We have posted a video of each audio clip on our YouTube channel. We do plan on returning to the tunnels and will post more evidence at that time.

Ludlow Grove Park - 05/19/2011

Our Preliminary Research:
  • We were given a tip that the road leading into the park used to be the grounds of a cemetery. Our informant advised us that the headstones from the graves were moved and that the bodies were left in the ground. They stated that they lived on the street above the park and had experienced some activity near the end of their backyard. We plan to investigate the informant's residence at a later date. Upon researching this legend, we were not able to find any viable information which would prove the existence of the cemetery. Our search included historical databases for the city of St. Bernard and were inconclusive.
Our Preliminary Findings:
  • We arrived at the park at approximately 9 PM on May 19, 2011. There were 4 group members present for this investigation. We experienced several raises on our EMF meter when we were not around any type of electrical surge. We also test the meter on a telephone pole and other objects within the perimeter of the park to ensure that our readings were accurate. Our group medium also states that she was asked  for help from a spirit while on the road that leads to the park entrance. We do plan to return to this location.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • After reviewing the video evidence, our results were inconclusive. The audio evidence was also inconclusive due to the high volume of traffic on the highway that night which was only 500 feet or less from the gates of the park. We will be returning on a night when the highway is less congested.

Wesleyan Cemetery - 05/29/2011

First Visit
Our Preliminary Research:
  • This investigation did not have any completed research at the first. The reason for this was simply that we were out driving and happened to drive by the cemetery and made a decision to stop and have a look around. Wesleyan is one of Cincinnati's oldest cemeteries. There are several graves that are dated in the mid-late 1800's. Due to poor upkeep, much of this cemetery has become dilapidated and vandalized. The cemetery is currently owned and maintained by the city.
Our Preliminary Findings:
  • We arrived at the cemetery at approximately 8 PM on May 29, 2011. The whole experience felt as though we were being drawn to specific locations within the grounds. Two note worthy locations are that of a grave that had been dug into and that of a table headstone. The table headstone was the one that really caught our attention because the date of death was May 29, 1893.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • Upon reviewing a 45 minute audio file, we found 5 EVPs. Three of the five are very clear and easy to understand. We took several photos while there but were not able to capture anything. We are curently planning a second and much longer visit at the cemetery in near future. We have also uploaded a video to YouTube with four of the EVPs found.

In Home Investigation - 05/31/2011

Our Preliminary Research:
  • We received a tip to contact a female in Cincinnati stating that they had experienced activity within the woman's home. We were advised that something was cause the door at the top of her basement stairs to move, that she felt extremely uncomfortable being alone in the basement. She also stated that a friend had been in the basement alone when they thought that she herself had walked behind them. The resident was upstairs at that time. She advised us that her dog will stop at the top of the stairs and refuse to go down them. When she picks him up and carries him down there, he starts acting odd and barking loudly at nothing. Upon hearing the case, we set up for an investigation right away. We were able to find that the house has had six previous owners. We have not yet been able to contact the previous owners.
Our Findings:
  • We arrived at the home at approximately 9:30 PM on May 31, 2011. There were four team members present at the investigation. We were split in teams of two. While teams were touring the home, the remaining members remained outside of the house as not to interfere with possible EVP and EMF readings. At least 2 people in group experienced an erie feeling while in the basement of the home though we did not see anything. Also, there was one person in each group that mentioned hearing something while in the basement with another team member and could only describe it a hissing sound. The resident was allowed to walk through with one of the team leads near the end of the investigation.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • Upon conducting a review of all our evidence we found that there are over 20 unidentifiable sounds on the the video and basement audio. We used 3 different voice recorders and a digital video camera with night vision technology. One voice recorder was placed in the kitchen of the house. A second voice recorder was placed in the last room of the basement. The third recorder was carried through the house by one of the teams. The first and third recorders did not pick up any substantial audio. However, the second recorder which was located in the basement, picked up several EVPs. The first and most audible was a sigh which sounded as though someone was sitting right next to the recorder. During this time of the investigation, 2 team members were outside of the house, the other 2 were in the kitchen speaking with the resident. At one point during the 2nd team's tour through the basement, one team member asked the other "What was that?". When we enhanced the audio from immediately before, there was a distinct animal like sound. We received several responses to questions that we asked the spirits. It our final conclusion that this house is host to an intelligent spirit, but may also contain a residual haunt as well.  Further investigating is required to gather more information. We will be returning to this house in the very near future.

Miamitown Bridge - 06/06/2011

Our Preliminary Research:
  • Prior to our visit, we were able to find many claims of seeing ghosts cars and full figure apparitions. There were several stories that we able find. In the end, we concluded on one primary story as being a true report of a tragedy occurring at the bridge. This story is found here: http://www.examiner.com/haunted-places-in-cincinnati/miamitown-bridge. We include the link to avoid any plagerism or accusation of taking credit for one's work. Most other sites that we found include a similar version to the story on examiner.com.
Our Findings:
  • We arrived at the bridge at around 8:15 PM on June 6, 2011. There were five 7 group members present which included all investigators in training. The group separated into 2 teams. There were 2 group members located under the west end of the bridge. The remaining group members were located on the upper portion of the bridge. The group under the bridge was equipped with a DVD camcorder using night vision technology. There was a small child's bicycle on the rocks of the river bend when we started our investigation of the top of the bridge. The location of the bicycle looked near impossible to reach by a child. What was odd was that shortly after sunset, the bike vanished. We were able to take a picture of the bike before it disappeared. However, after it was gone, the lack of light caused the photos to become very dark. Please see our investigation photos for pictures from the bridge. One member of the team below the bridge stated that he heard children laughing. One of the members under the bridge recalls hearing children's laughter but not being able to find out where it was coming from. The other member under the bridge also had an uneasy feeling while under the bridge.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  •  Upon analyzing the video filmed by the team under the bridge, we were able to capture a burst of energy moving rapidly under the bridge. Be sure to check out our YouTube channel for the complete evidence analysis. We are currently planning a return trip to the bridge.

In Home Investigation - 06/25/2011

Private Residence in Cincinnati, Ohio (2)
Our Preliminary Research:
  • We received a phone call from a woman stating that at one point she had found graves in her yard. She advised us that the local authorities and cemetery had only removed the headstones from her yard. She also advised us that the front room had experienced some activity prior to the headstone being found. She was offering for us to be able to come to her yard and see if there was anything still there.
Our Findings:
  • We arrived at the client's house at approximately 7:58 PM on June 25, 2011 and began setup. The first team consisted of 3 members and was located in the backyard of the house and were using a thermometer, EMF meter, video camera, and voice recorders. The second team consisted of two members and was located in the upper portion of the yard toward the front of the house. The group at the back of the yard experienced seeing something around the apple tree in the yard.  There was a point inside of the house where the upstairs room's ceiling fan was still running after being switched off.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • After a careful review of the video and audio files from the investigation, both teams that we present came to the same conclusion. We were not able to confirm that any spirits were still roaming at this house. We did not find any EVP evidence or apparitions on video. We did have a good time investigating this house and will return if the client experience phenomena again.

Wesleyan Cemetery - 06/25/2011

Second Visit

Our Preliminary Research:
  • After our first visit, we decided to dig up the history about the cemetery. The following are links which describe in detail the history. The cemetery is currently owned by the city of Cincinnati but is VERY poorly kept. There are several headstones broken, graves with holes near the headstones, statues which have been decapitated, and grass which seems hardly mowed.
Our Findings:
  • We arrived at the cemetery at approx. 11:30 PM on June 25, 2011. Our group did not split into separate teams. Our team medium felt as though she was being hounded by the restless spirits. She recalls that while there she felt entirely drained of energy. Another team member states that something kept grabbing at her shirt when we were walking the dirt path. The headstone that our team had previously visited became near impossible to find that night. We also experienced a few spikes in EMF readings without any rapid temperature changes.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • After several hours of listening to audio and reviewing video, we found a few EVPs that were picked up on one of the digital voice recorders that were used. Please visit our YouTube channel to hear the EVPs that we were able to pick up.

Buffalo Ridge Road - 07/23/2011

First Visit

Our Preliminary Research:
  • Upon researching this road's history, we were not able to come to a conclusive finding. The most reliable source states that the site located on the road was that of a planetarium that was never completed. There are many legends stating that it is the site of a crematorium which caught on fire. None of those legends have ever stated and dates which would back up their stories. The following site has very little information about it but it is the only reliable source giving any information that is remotely close to being true. http://www.cincinnatimagazine.com/jackheffron/westsidestory/Story.aspx?id=1370099Also, the CIncinnati Astronomical Society is located a very short distance from the site. They include a story about an observatory that was started but never completed. http://www.cinastro.org/History.htm
Our Findings:
  • We arrived at the observatory site at approximately 8 PM. Five of our team members were present for this investigation and split into 2 groups upon arriving. For the first hour of the investigation, the team observed the smell of death in a portion of the basement to the observatory. It was not until the team was preparing to leave early that anything significant happened. 2 team members recall hearing a female voice near by. One team member recalled seeing soimething disappear into the woods. Two EVP sessions were conducted near the front entrance to the location.
Our Evidence Analysis:
  • After reviewing the photographic evidence, we located what appeared to be a face in a stone. We have uploaded all photos onto our Facebook group page. Though the team does not recall anything occuring at the start of the investigation, we were able to locate several EVPs within the first 10 minutes of audio. Because of the amount of audio evidence, it is taking longer than anticipated for us to be able to upload our EVPs. Please bear with us as we are still analyzing the audio files.
